The short version.
- 1
Get the recording
Use the finished stream's YouTube link, or download the recording from Twitch or Kick as a video file.
- 2
Find the moments
Look for the loud parts, the reactions and the plays, not only the good lines. This is the slow step by hand.
- 3
Frame for a phone
Cut to 9:16 with the camera above the game, so the reaction and the play are both visible.
- 4
Caption and post
Caption every word, keep it under 3 minutes, and post within a day or two of the stream.
What makes a moment
On a stream the clip is rarely a sentence. It is a spike: the room gets loud, the streamer jumps, the kill feed fills up, or there is a long silence before something goes wrong. If you are searching by hand, scrub the audio waveform for peaks first and watch thirty seconds either side.
A good clip stands alone. Someone who has never seen the stream should understand what happened in the first three seconds.
Keep the face and the game
A stream is laid out for a wide screen. Crop the centre to vertical and the camera in the corner is gone; follow the face and the game is gone. Stack them: camera on top, gameplay below. By hand that means placing two crops on every clip.
Length and captions
YouTube Shorts accepts videos up to 3 minutes, and TikTok and Reels take that length too. Shorter usually works better for a stream clip: aim for under a minute unless the moment needs more. Caption every word, because many people watch with the sound off.
Doing it in one job with Mossclip
Mossclip does the four steps together, on up to two hours of recording per job. Paste the stream's YouTube link or upload the file, and it finds the moments by words, sound and picture, stacks the facecam over the gameplay, captions every word, and returns a batch between 15 seconds and 3 minutes each. Fix a clip by deleting words from its transcript, then export at 1080 by 1920.
Questions.
How many clips should one stream give?
It depends on the stream. Post the best few rather than everything you find.
How long should a stream clip be?
Under a minute suits most stream moments. Shorts, TikTok and Reels all accept up to 3 minutes.
How do I keep my facecam in a vertical clip?
Stack it over the gameplay. Mossclip does this automatically and lets you move either crop.
Can I do this for a Twitch stream?
Yes. Download the recording and use the file. In Mossclip, upload it as an MP4 or MOV.
